For the episode of SBS “Strong Heart” broadcast on March 13, Lee Teuk made a joke about the on-going MBC strike. Currently, the PD for “We Got Married” is on strike. For about a month “We Got Married” was not broadcasting.

During “Strong Heart” Boom asked Lee Teuk, “How is your virtual married life?” Lee Teuk replied,

“We are currently on strike. We did not break off our engagement, we are on strike. We didn’t mean to, but we are currently separated.”

(The Korean word for breaking off an engagement is “Pa Hon” and the word for strike is “Pa Uhb.” The two words contain the same word “Pa” and it is the Chinese character meaning “to end.” This is the meaning behind the play on words.)

Currently MBC’s labor union is on strike demanding the CEO Kim Jae Chul to step down.

On the February 21 episode of SBS’s popular variety show, Strong Heart, actor Seo Ji Hye was invited and showed off her witty conversational power.

On the show, Ji Hye revealed an interesting anecdote under the shocking title that said “I have been in the club for eight years.” She opened her mouth by saying, “Since I turned 22, I’ve appeared in four drama series. In every series, I have to have a bun in the oven.”

Lee Seung Gi, a popular actor and the main emcee of the show, asked her if there is any difference between when she plays in historical drama series and series of present-day life. Her answer attracted the focus of male guests’ attention: “The special outfit for pregnant women is helpful to keep out the cold in the winter, but it is too hot to be worn in the summer. Silk dresses for high-standing characters don’t absorb perspiration. That’s why whenever I play for historical series, I become a woman who easily takes off my clothes. Such silk costumes will be sure to kill me in the summer.”

Ji Hye revealed a relevant funny anecdote: “At first, I hurry off jeogori, or Korean traditional upper garment. When it’s too hot, I pull up even the skirt. All the actors and staff members around me enjoyed my taking-off performance, except one person, Super Junior’s Choi Siwon.”

In 2007, Siwon and Ji Hye played together in MBC’s historical drama series Legend of Hyang Dan. “I didn’t care a snap in taking off the costume because Siwon was younger than me. But he looked at me oddly and said, ‘However hot it may be, you shouldn’t forget you are a woman. Please put on the clothes.’ Over time, he became the first person who starts taking off such silk clothes. If you want to see ‘undressed’ actors, visit the sets in the summer,” she said, setting the table in a roar.

Super Junior Leetek and Eunhyuk claimed the ‘theory of insoles’.

On the ‘Strong Heart’ broadcasted on August 31, singer Se7en revealed the incident when he agreed to add a insole each with TOP of Big Bang before going onstage.

Super Junior Leeteuk immediately followed up by claiming the insoles theory. Leeteuk said ‘Shoelifts are a form of courtesy, balancing your own height with the height shown on the screen. Through Shoelifts, you can eventually keep that promise.’

Super Junior Eunhyuk also emphasized that ‘shoelifts are a must’.

Leeteuk and Eunhyuk continued to take out their own shoelifts, promoting the ‘theory of insoles’. The pair said ‘Shoelifts can make a person look taller, as well as protecting your ankles’. They also compared the newly-released shoelifts. While demonstrating themselves, they said ‘According to the type of shoes, the heights of the shoelifts are also different’.

Upon seeing the situation, Hong Kyung Min said ‘The music industry really developed a lot. When I had schedules as a singer, the only way to look taller is to spike up my hair’, making everyone in the studio laugh.

On the other hand, the guests of ‘Strong Heart’ that day included Se7en, SHINee Minho & Key, 2AM Changmin, 8eight Lee Hyun etc.

• Why I love Super Junior? I wasn’t into K-Pop when Super Junior debuted, I started noticing them only after they released Sorry Sorry (in my opinion, THE song that shot them to superstardom and got them where they are right now). My first impression of them was “Why so many members?” and “What’s with the haircut?” While watching EHB, it was then when I realized that these boys began to grow on me. They have a nonchalant approach to fame and they don’t take themselves too seriously, that’s a quality I rarely find in other K-Pop groups. I realize in Korean entertainment world, idol images are shaped and they have to maintain that, but every so often, with SJ members, their real personalities appear in interviews, variety shows, radio broadcasts and especially Super Show. They way they interact with each other make me feel like I’m watching the boys-next-door, approachable, funny, dorky and humble. I guess that imperfection shows that they are real and relatable.

Why I love TwELFs and SPL? When I first started collecting information about Super Junior, I stumbled upon several fanbases, but TwELFs stood out to my attention immediately for several reasons: quality content, good English, pleasing to the eyes & easy to navigate.Like any other new converts, I joined in the fandom bandwagon and participated with gusto especially on Trending Topic projects. I was surprised to know that TwELFs founders were still in college, because they ran a tight ship with the blog and Twitter account. I was even more pleasantly surprised when I communicated via Twitter with the founders, because they were so friendly and unpretentious. TwELFs blog has meaty content without sacrificing entertainment value. It is informational without sounding too serious and at the same time, provides all the fun tidbits for fans –newly minted or veteran.

SPL is oozing with creativity (e.g. forum members referred to as Students and Super Junior members as Professors!) and over a short period of time has gained the reputation of being one of the most acclaimed international forums for ELFs. SPL keeps making changes for the better and continues to carry out credible projects for Super Junior and ELFs. SPL is a labor of love, and I salute the people behind it, who are such dedicated hard-workers.
