Here’s a little gift from us, TwELFs. We made you a trending topic TWICE! And we succeeded gloriously in getting you to no. 1 of the TT list despite the new year tweets! Saranghae, oppa!
Sorry Sorry is the hit single of Super Junior’s third album which is also entitled “Sorry Sorry”. This single was written by the brilliant Korean composer, Yoo Young Jin. The catchy and phenomenal dance steps was coreographed by Nick Bass, an experienced coreographer who has worked with numerous famous American stars, such as N*Sync, Usher, and Britney Spears. “Sorry Sorry” album has sold out more than 200.000 copies in Korea itself. Not to mention other album sales around Asia. The song has gained international recognition for Super Junior and Korean music in general. It has won many awards, one of them was the prestigious Daesang Award (Album of the Year) at Korea’s Golden Disk Award. The single “Sorry Sorry” is really popular. Even the famous American blogger, Perez Hilton, once blogged about how he really liked the song. Sorry Sorry is basically played everywhere. Clearly, 2009 is the year of Sorry Sorry.
In order to celebrate this, ELFs, Super Junior’s fans, wanted to make #sorrysorry as a trending topic in Twitter, so that more people will know about the single’s glory. The hashtag #sorrysorry started to appear on Twitter Trending Topic list around 9 PM KST. It stayed there for eight and a half hours, proving how popular “Sorry Sorry” is around the world.

It’s the 6th of November! It means today is Super Junior’s 4th anniversary! This is the full report on how we gave the boys an international recognition as a gift!
Being a Trending Topic in Twitter means whatever the Trend is will be read by Twitter users all around the world. We, as top frequent Twitter user, happened to realize that Super Junior had never actually made it to the Trending Topic, despite they’re the largest boyband in the world. So we prepared this project a few months ago, gathered followers and contributors, and finally WE’RE HERE!
This isn’t our first attempt at making the boys a Trending Topic. The first one failed, but we immediately learned from our mistakes. It took more than 1000 followers and finally Super Junior got the international recognition they deserve on Twitter. Some people might think that this is nothing compared to other bigger projects, but truthfully, we never feel like anything is wasted on them. They’re all just worth it. And this is the least we can do as Twitter ELFs, making sure that they deserve the international recognition for their awe-inspiring performances for the last four years. With billions of people all around the world using twitters, chances are they might spot the boys in the TT list and just like the rest of us, curiosity takes over and make them google “Super Junior”. As a matter of fact, last night we found this girl who had no idea what Super Junior was and when she saw them on the Trending Topic list, she looked them up and tada! Born a new ELF!
We started exactly at 12 AM KST. ELFs on Twitter started tweeting like crazy. Guess what? Super Junior immediately made it to Trending Topic list in 15 minutes! Then, as a support to our strong man, Kangin, we also tweeted #standbykangin and half an hour later, the Trend popped up in the list along with Super Junior! Seeing #standbykangin in the list is a proof that a lot of people support Kangin. See that, netizens?
When we saw the duo Trends on the list, we became even more excited and tweeted like crazy. Eventually, the Trends climbed up the Trending Topic list. #standbykangin managed to reach No. 6, while Super Junior successfully reached No. 2! Even more! #standbykangin kept its spot in the list for 3 hours, while Super Junior gloriously stayed in the list for 5 hours! That was more than we could ever imagine!
Therefore, on this opportunity, we’d like to thank you and congratulate you for making a Super Junior history in Twitter universe. Have I mentioned that this is the first time the boys broke into the Trending Topic list? Yes, each and everyone of us is a part of that. For not only it’s a celebration for Super Junior, but also for us! Our boys must be so proud to see our achievement. We also like to thank every fandom who have helped us in making this project a BIG success. You must know that it wasn’t just ELFs who tweeted the Super Junior and #standbykangin Trends. There were also Hottests, Cassies, VIPs, Wonderfuls, Shawols, Black Jacks, and so many others that we can’t name them one by one. We’d also like to thank every fansite and K-Pop community for helping us. Thank you, Korean Pop Addict, Jay Sky Message, TVXQ Forum, Project Hottest, SM-Town Lovers, Ice Plus Coffee, and so many others! We are thrilled to see the K-Pop family as a unity!
You guys do remember next week, as at November 6, 2009, is the boys’ 4th anniversary right? … and of course we have prepared something to celebrate that very special moment… we are THE TWITTER ELFS.. and as the name suggests, our project is actually quite predictable and simple. MAKE #superjunior A TRENDING TOPIC!! but let’s not forget someone who has been through a lot in the past few weeks.. someone who has done so much to the group… someone who is in need of our supports the most.. that guy is Kim Youngwoon.. and as true ELFs, we choose to STAND BY KANGIN! We sure don’t want to leave him out of the celebration and that is why we will MAKE #standbykangin A TRENDING TOPIC too!!
So how can we make that happen?
If you’re long enough to be a part of us, you are probably aware of our very first attempt to make #superjunior a trending topic.. We have learnt so much from our mistakes and now that we have received inputs from so many different sources, we’d like you to please read through the instructions provided below with care.

This is how we do it..
The most important thing to do is to include #superjunior in EVERY TWEETS of yours. You can just place it anywhere in your tweets, be it in the beginning, in the middle or at the end.

Basically, all we need to do is to tweet as much as we can AT THE SAME TIME!! Tweet as much as 100 times per ELFs in half an hour to make it happen.. WE CAN DO IT, TwELFs!!

Why I love Super Junior? I wasn’t into K-Pop when Super Junior debuted, I started noticing them only after they released Sorry Sorry (in my opinion, THE song that shot them to superstardom and got them where they are right now). My first impression of them was “Why so many members?” and “What’s with the haircut?” While watching EHB, it was then when I realized that these boys began to grow on me. They have a nonchalant approach to fame and they don’t take themselves too seriously, that’s a quality I rarely find in other K-Pop groups. I realize in Korean entertainment world, idol images are shaped and they have to maintain that, but every so often, with SJ members, their real personalities appear in interviews, variety shows, radio broadcasts and especially Super Show. They way they interact with each other make me feel like I’m watching the boys-next-door, approachable, funny, dorky and humble. I guess that imperfection shows that they are real and relatable.
Why I love TwELFs and SPL? When I first started collecting information about Super Junior, I stumbled upon several fanbases, but TwELFs stood out to my attention immediately for several reasons: quality content, good English, pleasing to the eyes & easy to navigate.Like any other new converts, I joined in the fandom bandwagon and participated with gusto especially on Trending Topic projects. I was surprised to know that TwELFs founders were still in college, because they ran a tight ship with the blog and Twitter account. I was even more pleasantly surprised when I communicated via Twitter with the founders, because they were so friendly and unpretentious.
TwELFs blog has meaty content without sacrificing entertainment value. It is informational without sounding too serious and at the same time, provides all the fun tidbits for fans –newly minted or veteran.
SPL is oozing with creativity (e.g. forum members referred to as Students and Super Junior members as Professors!) and over a short period of time has gained the reputation of being one of the most acclaimed international forums for ELFs. SPL keeps making changes for the better and continues to carry out credible projects for Super Junior and ELFs. SPL is a labor of love, and I salute the people behind it, who are such dedicated hard-workers.
