So the official list of Top Twitter Trends of 2010 has recently been revealed and even though no Super Junior-related trending topics make it to the overall top 10 trends, our very own Kim Heechul snags a spot in the top 10 PEOPLE trends, sitting nicely at number 9. There were so many events relating to Heenim in 2010 that we can’t keep track, for example, when he dressed up as f(x) Sulli in Super Show 2. On Super Junior-T’s anniversary project, he was the only member that trended along and it is not exactly a rare occasion that one or two words mentioned in his tweeted went up the trending list simply because it garnered so much attention. It was actually quite predictable that he would shake the twitterverse after he deleted his twitter account (@hee18) few hours after his first tweet ^^

Who owns the Twitterverse? Political posturers? Rabid international pop music fans? The gadget-crazed Twitterati? If you said all three, you’d be right, at least for this week.
This is the tenth time Super Junior got onto Mashable “Top 10 Twitter Trends This Week”
The hashtags “youneedanupgrade”, “weloveyesung” and “howtogetslapped” are taking out the top three places in Twitter’s most talked about topics list on the morning of June 7.
The name of Korean Super Junior band member Kim Jong-woon (more commonly known by his stage name Yesung) has hit Twitter’s trending topics list after joining the social networking site earlier during the day. Fans are welcoming Yesung with the terms “Yesung Oppa” (currently in fourth place) and “#weloveyesung” (trending in second place).
MTV’s annual Movie Awards were held on Sunday June 6. Microbloggers are posting comments about the awards show, driving “MTV Movie” into fifth place. “Xtina”, a nickname for American singer Christina Aguilera also made it into Twitter’s most talked about topics as fans discuss her performance at the awards night. “Xtina” is trending in ninth place.
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is also a hotly discussed topic this morning, currently sitting in sixth place. The conference is set to take place later today and Twitter users are talking about the possibility of Apple releasing the iPhone “HD”, and a “Magic Trackpad” add-on for Apple laptop and desktop users that would enable them to control their PC with finger-based gestures.
The annual “Summer Jam” rap music festival is new in the charts in seventh place. “Oil Spill” follows one place behind, dropping two spots over night. “Another Cinderella Story”, the name of the 2008 romantic comedy film featuring Selena Gomez, Jane Lynch and Andrew Seeley is in the charts at number ten.

Korean boy band Super Junior takes the top spot on this week’s list, demonstrating once again that Twitter is truly an international affair.
And in classic Twitter form, international diplomatic crises rank right up there with pro sports upsets as the most talked about topics on the network. And if you’re concerned about Justin Bieber (as we all certainly are), rest assured, he jumps back into the trend party at number seven.
twelfs note: this is the ninth time Super Junior got into Mashable weekly top 10 trends and this is the second time they top the list
It may be the end of an era for Twitter trends, as Justin Bieber is nowhere to be found on this week’s list. Instead, American Idol champions the chart as the show wrapped its ninth season and crowned some guy the winner of something.
Below that, international trends including Korean boy band Super Junior continue to dominate, while concerns over the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico mount.
twelfs note: this is the eighth time Super Junior got into Mashable weekly top 10 trends
This week’s list of trends illustrates the enormous international breadth of Twitter and its users. The Korean music group Super Junior, a popular trending topic for many weeks, has finally toppled Justin Bieber and claimed the number one spot. Whether this is due to sheer number of tweets, or a change in Twitter’s trend-identifying algorithm, remains to be seen.

A group of ELF’s have decided to put together a video project for Super Junior in which there are clips of some ELF’s answering the questions: “What does super junior mean to you?” or “Super Junior is…” and the video will have the title: “Ever.Lasting.Friends. Painting the world Sapphire Blue.”
The organizer’s are hoping to release the video on YouTube by the end of the month and we will be creating posters and banners to help get it noticed but are also thinking of planning a ‘twitter trend’ to do on the day or on the day before it is released.
What I am kindly asking is if it’s possible that you could be willing to help promote and get Twelfs to make this twitter trend successful so hopefully Super Junior members can notice it too and see the video and also get other ELF’s to watch the video
Trending Topic Project: #ELFvideo4SJ on May 19th at 11PM KST
Super Junior is a South Korean boy band under SM Entertainment who has been leading the Korean music scene since 2005. Following their debut with 12 members, one additional member was introduced a year later to complete the group and have since formed 4 sub-groups. Each of the members are known for their unique talents and charms in entertaining the audiences, be it as singer, actor, MC, radio host, rapper, comedian, songwriter, model or dancer.
To date, SUJU has officially released five studio albums, with numerous singles, digital, singles, original soundtracks and live concert albums. Their third album, Sorry Sorry, released in 2009, is arguably the most critically and commercially successful album to date, selling 30,000 copies on its release day in Korea only, nabbing the #1 chart position in Korea, Taiwan, Philippines and Thailand. With only 9 active members since 2011, the group continues to defend their title as the King of Global Korean Wave.

Why I love Super Junior? I wasn’t into K-Pop when Super Junior debuted, I started noticing them only after they released Sorry Sorry (in my opinion, THE song that shot them to superstardom and got them where they are right now). My first impression of them was “Why so many members?” and “What’s with the haircut?” While watching EHB, it was then when I realized that these boys began to grow on me. They have a nonchalant approach to fame and they don’t take themselves too seriously, that’s a quality I rarely find in other K-Pop groups. I realize in Korean entertainment world, idol images are shaped and they have to maintain that, but every so often, with SJ members, their real personalities appear in interviews, variety shows, radio broadcasts and especially Super Show. They way they interact with each other make me feel like I’m watching the boys-next-door, approachable, funny, dorky and humble. I guess that imperfection shows that they are real and relatable.
Why I love TwELFs and SPL? When I first started collecting information about Super Junior, I stumbled upon several fanbases, but TwELFs stood out to my attention immediately for several reasons: quality content, good English, pleasing to the eyes & easy to navigate.Like any other new converts, I joined in the fandom bandwagon and participated with gusto especially on Trending Topic projects. I was surprised to know that TwELFs founders were still in college, because they ran a tight ship with the blog and Twitter account. I was even more pleasantly surprised when I communicated via Twitter with the founders, because they were so friendly and unpretentious.
TwELFs blog has meaty content without sacrificing entertainment value. It is informational without sounding too serious and at the same time, provides all the fun tidbits for fans –newly minted or veteran.
SPL is oozing with creativity (e.g. forum members referred to as Students and Super Junior members as Professors!) and over a short period of time has gained the reputation of being one of the most acclaimed international forums for ELFs. SPL keeps making changes for the better and continues to carry out credible projects for Super Junior and ELFs. SPL is a labor of love, and I salute the people behind it, who are such dedicated hard-workers.
