I guess there will be all the talk about it after I finish my military service. But I’m not scared at all and I’m watching.”

{NEWS} SJ 2nd Asia Tour in Shanghai: HanGeng Still Not Present
Posted by at 1:49 PM in News, Super Junior
    Featured Members:

On the 6th and 7th of March, Korea group Super Junior will be holding their last 2nd Asia Tour concert in Shanghai* .HanGeng, who was not present in last week’s concert in Beijing due to contract issues, it waits to be seen if HanGeng will be present to bid his fans goodbye.

What we know from the organizers is that while they have gotten all of the remaining SJ members to participate in the concert, they have also remain in contact with SM, and hope that HanGeng would put aside the contract issues and join in this concert. However, the organizer said that although it would be highly impossible that it would happen, in the opening sales alone, the tickets have been
    70% sold, surpassing their expectations.

The contract issues brought many problems to Super Junior, but it didn’t stop them from achieving recognition for their hard work. At the second half of last year, created a craze in both Korea as well as Asia, and in September, with the release of the mini-album in Taiwan, which topped charts, SJ can be said to be very popular in China too.

Last year, on the 18 of October, SJ performed at Shanghai Sport hall, and although the prices of the tickets went up to as high as 3600yuan, fans were still equally enthusiastic. 2 months later, SJ went to Nanjing for another concert, and like before, the whole place was placed, causing organizers to add in last minute tickets for standing only. In order to thank their fans for their support, SJ decided to hold their last concert in Shanghai* , and will also double the concert time.

Last week concert at Beijing, other than HanGeng not being present due to contract issues, two other members, KangIn and KiBum were not around too, due to a hiatus and acting commitment respectively, causing SJ to hold their first concert with only 10 members. Fans at the venue, however, were chanting “HanGeng, KiBum, KangIn,” the names of the 3 members who were not present. Being the last stop, organizers express that like the fans, they do want to see SJ perform as a complete group. However, HanGeng decision is still rather firm, so the chances of it happening may be near to impossible. The organizers also said that they have also personally contacted HanGeng, and hope that he would be able to turn up for this concert, giving all those present a pleasant surprise.

HanGeng’s contract issues also had some negative impact towards the 2nd Asia Tour. On the January 10 and 23 concert in Guangzhou and Shanghai respectively, many of HanGeng’s fans requested a refund for their ticket. The reporter asked if they are worried if such a situation would happen, and they responded that this concert has already sold up to 70% of the tickets, leaving only about 2000 tickets left, making it one of the fastest numbers of tickets sold. In addition, most of the concert-goers would definitely be those who already saw the Nanjing concert, and are just back to watch it again. Therefore, the time, which was allocated by both the fans and organizers, is such that the 6th March concert will be held in the evening, while the 7th March concert at 3:30pm, for convenient sake, so that when the concert is over, fans can then catch a plane or a train ride home.

*: they probably meant last concert in China

{NEWS} SJ in Beijing, HanGeng is not present, HeeChul in Tears, KyuHyun is Jam Xiao
Posted by at 1:59 PM in News, Super Junior, Super Junior - M
    Featured Members:

Super Junior’s 2nd Asia Tour officially ended its Beijing stop yesterday, and because of HanGeng’s issue, KangIn’s hiatus and KiBum’s acting commitments, SJ only had 10 members performing, all bringing songs as well as their solo performances. Fans offstage were both touched and upset, shouting ‘HanGeng, KiBum and KangIn’ from time to time, and even with fans crying.

This is SJ’s first time holding a concert in Beijing, and also the first super show without HanGeng. Therefore, there were changes in some of the performances, like cancelling HanGeng’s solo, Super Junior- M performing with only 6 members, and the dance battle that comprises of EunHyuk, ShinDong and HanGeng was changed to EunHyuk, ShinDong, DongHae and Sungmin. The VCR also underwent changes, leaving out most of HanGeng’s footage.

Although the people were not present, fans still gave their support. Fansigns for Hangeng were lit, and before the concert started, fans were screaming HanGeng, KiBum, KangIn’, the members that were unable to turn up. Once the VCR showed HanGeng, fans started screaming, and when the concert came to an end, while one end shouted encore, the other shouted ‘HanGeng’. And when it was SJ-M turn to perform , HanGeng’s name was once again shouted.

One of HanGeng’s fan said that when she saw the dance battle, she felt really upset, because the whole choreography was changed, which caused many of HanGeng’s fans to cancel their tickets. When asked why she still turned up, she said, “Because we are holding on to this hope, that HanGeng might turn up,’ causing the other fans to burst into tears.

When singing , HeeChul and Eeteuk were in tears, while fans too, were crying, shouting the members’ name. Many fans said it was the first time that they saw HeeChul cry.

Emotions aside, Heechul also provided laughter to many, SJ’s imitation of SNSD’s Gee, and HeeChul don 2 plaits, attracting a lot of attention. And during his solo, he wore a suit that matched his rock stage.

Lastly, HeeChul also used Chinese to communicate with the fans, saying, ‘having you around, makes us happy.’ At the end, HeeChul also pulled ZhouMi out, saying to the fans, “I say Zhou, You say Mi’ , making ZhouMi really embarrassed.

Apart from performing , , and all their other songs, the concert also had solo performances from other members. Ryeowook had a dance with a female dancer, Eeteuk sang , Siwon sang , and KyuHyun sang Jam Xiao’s , showing off his vocals, making the fans really hyped. DongHae sang and danced to , the song he composed and wrote lyrics on his own, as well as using Chinese to greet the fans, garnering the most screams from fans.

The highlight of the Super Junior’s concert would be the interaction between members on stage, Eeteuk and EunHyuk were singing while on the floor, and Yesung ran and sat on top of EunHyuk; with the mood at level high, Siwon carried HeeChul and walked around the stage, and his shirt was being ripped by Eeteuk. SIwon took revenge, and did the same back to Eeteuk. The members playing around: while KyuHyun was singing, DongHae and Eeteuk went to put the fishing net on his head; and when he was going to sing a high note, one of the members would definitely tickle him on the neck, making him unable to continue singing. The whole place did not look like a concert, but instead, a party that allows one to enjoy it to the fullest.

    Super Junior storms Beijing
    By JONATHAN M. HICAPJanuary 26, 2010, 4:20pm

Super Junior’s Super Show 2Korean boy band Super Junior drew thousands of fans when they visited Beijing on Jan. 23.

The concert, part of the popular boy band’s Asian concert tour, was held at the Wukesong Gymnasium. Super Junior sang more than 30 songs, including their big hit “Sorry, Sorry.”

Only 10 of the original 13 Super Junior members performed at the concert including Leeteuk, Shindong, Siwon, Sungmin, Yesung, Kyuhyun, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Ryeowook, and Heechul. The other members—Kibum, Hangeng, and Kangin—were absent due to personal commitments.

Zhou Mi and Henry, members of the sub-group Super Junior M, joined the pop group for the show.

For their Filipino fans, however, the day they’ll get to see Super Junior couldn’t come too soon. It will be a K-pop feast when the band finally holds its concert here at the Araneta Coliseum on April 10.

To date, thousands of Super Junior fans have already reserved tickets with PULP Live Productions, the concert organizer.

In an update, PULP Live Productions said it has started calling and sending email to those who have sent their ticket reservations to know their seating preference. Ticket prices range from P900 to P8,500.

Super Junior and Super Junior M’s songs have topped music charts in the Philippines. Super Junior’s third album, “Sorry, Sorry,” was the top selling K-pop album in the Philippines in 2009.

Charts-wise, Super Junior M’s “Blue Tomorrow” and Super Junior’s “Sorry, Sorry-Answer” occupied the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in the Myx International Top 20 Chart for the period January 23-29.

Universal Records Philippines will release Super Junior’s “Super Show 2 Live Album” CD soon.

Super Junior will pass through Taipei, Taiwan, on February 20 to 21; Shanghai, China, on March 6 to 7; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 20. The tour, dubbed “The 2nd Asia Tour: Super Show 2,” kicked off in Seoul last year.

    • Why I love Super Junior? I wasn’t into K-Pop when Super Junior debuted, I started noticing them only after they released Sorry Sorry (in my opinion, THE song that shot them to superstardom and got them where they are right now). My first impression of them was “Why so many members?” and “What’s with the haircut?” While watching EHB, it was then when I realized that these boys began to grow on me. They have a nonchalant approach to fame and they don’t take themselves too seriously, that’s a quality I rarely find in other K-Pop groups. I realize in Korean entertainment world, idol images are shaped and they have to maintain that, but every so often, with SJ members, their real personalities appear in interviews, variety shows, radio broadcasts and especially Super Show. They way they interact with each other make me feel like I’m watching the boys-next-door, approachable, funny, dorky and humble. I guess that imperfection shows that they are real and relatable.

Why I love TwELFs and SPL? When I first started collecting information about Super Junior, I stumbled upon several fanbases, but TwELFs stood out to my attention immediately for several reasons: quality content, good English, pleasing to the eyes & easy to navigate.Like any other new converts, I joined in the fandom bandwagon and participated with gusto especially on Trending Topic projects. I was surprised to know that TwELFs founders were still in college, because they ran a tight ship with the blog and Twitter account. I was even more pleasantly surprised when I communicated via Twitter with the founders, because they were so friendly and unpretentious. TwELFs blog has meaty content without sacrificing entertainment value. It is informational without sounding too serious and at the same time, provides all the fun tidbits for fans –newly minted or veteran.

SPL is oozing with creativity (e.g. forum members referred to as Students and Super Junior members as Professors!) and over a short period of time has gained the reputation of being one of the most acclaimed international forums for ELFs. SPL keeps making changes for the better and continues to carry out credible projects for Super Junior and ELFs. SPL is a labor of love, and I salute the people behind it, who are such dedicated hard-workers.
